BSB 2020 could be a nine-round championship starting in August

Recommended Posts

BSB race director Stuart Higgs was on the Chasin' the Racin' podcast last week chatting about a number of different scenarios for what could happen this year - including nothing at all, which he still admitted wasn't out of the realm of possibility.

He said they have plans for anything from a late June start to a start at the beginning of September, but his favoured option is the scenario where they kick off in August - could be a nine round championship from there... it'll be tight!!

That could also seriously affect which support classes are able to run this year. With a compressed schedule of pretty much nine rounds in nine weeks, or there abouts, it's difficult to imagine all classes having a run as usual...

I'm sure a good handful of the big sponsors, manufacturers, etc are going to be at a loss... begs the question - is anyone is going to be able to afford it?

Pretty serious changes to the landscape ahead. Thoughts?

Its obvious that Stuart and the BSB Team will be debating a number of scenarios - but nine rounds with a start of August - are they for real - lol

I think that will put too much pressure on the Teams and Riders - look at other sports, they are allowing time for their athletes and organisations to 'get back into training', before they have to compete on the big stage.

Maybe the right way would be less races and a few more official test weekends, to get everybody up to speed again?? This is an expensive and potentially dangerous sport...
