before the site's recent update i was getting email notifications of new topics in the 'general for sale' and 'bikes for sale' sections. now they've stopped. what do i do to get them again

Go to the 'follow this topic' button at the top right of a topic or 'follow this forum' button at the top right of a forum.
It will give you a couple of options on how you get notified.
Also go to settings in your profile and set up how and when you want notifications sent.
