It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ben Lightowler, who died on Sunday evening as a result of injuries he sustained during an accident at Brands Hatch in the afternoon. This is a great loss for his family and friends and many of us at Bemsee who knew him as a dynamic racer and an engaging young man.
The consequences for those close to him are immense.
Adjustments had to be made to the programme on Sunday to allow marshals, medics and officials to remain composed and complete the programme to the best of our collective ability. We wanted to ensure as many of our riders who came to support this meeting had their opportunity on this great circuit. Those that feel we didn’t quite meet their needs should now perhaps address their concerns directly to the CEO at the Bemsee office rather than on here.
Our thoughts are with Ben’s Father Bryan, his girlfriend, Melanie and his close family and friends.

There is little one can say at a time like this except that our hearts go out to Bens family and friends.
And also to the people at trackside who worked so valiantly throughout and who will also have to come to terms with being so close to such tradgedy.
Karen and Paul

Didn't know Ben, but would like to offer our condolences to family and friends. Such a tragedy!
You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
There comes a point in your life when you realize:
Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore...
And who always will.

Not sure what to say other than even though I never spoke to Ben I very much admired his riding skills on track and never will forget him passing me sideways into the chicane at Cadwell.
My thoughts go to his family and friends and all those involved.
RIP Ben.

Didn't know him, only been along to this brands bemsee meet this year so following meets by results sheets, but what a rider from those results and the races I saw this weekend.
Was spectating at the bottom of paddock hill & it looked a really bad incident.
As always a tragedy for his family, friends and the whole community that is Bemsee. RIP Ben.
