I live in wrexham and I'm looking at getting started in track racing.
I've raced many years on and off with motocross and now throwing in the towel and switching to track.
If anyone has any help or info please get in touch. I believe I can start from a 600cc as a novice and work my way up.
Thanks for reading and look forward to replies.
I would like to draw to every ones attention the existence of my newly developed 500c square 4 two stroke engine, I've always been a 2 stroke fan having owned many classics ( Kawa H2, Bridgestone GTR350, Yamaha RZ500, Suzuki RG400) to name a few. Trouble is you can't buy a new one and those not written off are becoming so valuable and collectable that only the very rich or very brave will put them on the track. It then struck me, why not build an engine from scratch ? I teamed up with one of the prominent superkarters and hatched a plan to build a square 4 using Rotax 256 or Rotax retro. top end parts, to take the power we used a donor clutch and gearbox from a GSXR1000 which drops straight into our billet cases. Induction is via rotary valves, and the front and rear cranks counter rotate to allow for silky smooth running without a pesky balance shaft. The engine can be run 2 pistons at TDC and 2 at BDC, and also big bang which gives excellent torque. At the moment we have built, bench run and evaluated the prototype. Solidworks drawings are made and we are poised to manufacture our first CNC billet cases, I would invite all interested parties to contact me for further details, whether you race bikes, sports prototype cars in the SCCA, or just want to do a project bike or kart this engine is perfect.
Personal details of builder, my name is John Sapsed ex-owner / designer of the Speads race cars, and a toolmaker of some 43 years experience.
I thank you for reading my blog, and hope this will be of interest !
Best Regards John. 0027-812081990
It would be good to hear how your preparation is going and how your season progresses.
This mostly a racing forum - but if there is anything of interest happening around your racing - let us know about that too
